Expekt.com Limited was founded in London in 1999, by Christian Haupt and Conny Gesar. The founders of Expekt.com made full use of their strong background in the Financial Business and IT industries when creating the site and its services. The site was first launched in English and Swedish. The business remained in London until the end of 2000 at which time it was moved to Malta and the current Head Office.
The year 2000 was characterised by enormous growth in customer base, turnover and European market presence. During the year the turnover increased between 40 and 70 percent per month. The growth stayed on those levels during 2001 and 2002. Expekt.com quickly became the leading online bookmaker in Scandinavia offering a solid and more competitive alternative to the state owned monopoly companies. During 2002 Expekt.com proved its position as market leader by introducing important features as the affiliate and loyalty program as well as the Live Betting service while simultaneously expanding beyond Europe into Asia.
In 2003, as one of the first major betting companies in Europe, Expekt.com launched the casino and poker services, complementing the geographical expansion with product growth. The bookmaker dieWette was acquired, giving Expekt.com an Austrian betting license. The service was launched into Croatia and Russia encouraged by the successful market development of Expekt.com in Poland. The growth of the casino and poker products during 2004 was momentous. Expekt.com managed to capitalize on its first mover advantage in Scandinavia by offering an attractive and reliable poker and casino service. Expekt.com hosted the first ever online national championships in poker in all the Nordic Countries as well as the Nordic Championships.
In 2004 Expekt.com also witnessed a continued and stable growth on the central European and Mediterranean markets.
